The Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, on August 6, 2026, issued the Draft Himachal Pradesh Food Security (First Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Himachal Pradesh Food Security Rules, 2019.
The following has been amended, namely:
• A new sub-rule (7) to rule 14 shall be inserted, which prescribes the terms and conditions applicable to the Chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh State Food Commission. The amendment provides that the State Food Commission will provide the Chairperson a hired vehicle, with the expenditure borne by the Commission, or a vehicle allowance of ₹2,500 per month. While undertaking tours in his/her own vehicle, the Chairperson will be entitled to a road mileage allowance of ₹8 per kilometre for both hilly and plain areas, along with a daily allowance of ₹250 per day.
• The Chairperson will also be authorised to countersign his/her own TA/DA bills and will act as the Controlling Officer for his/her tour programmes. The amendment further provides entitlement to medical reimbursement on actual claim, and Government residential accommodation, subject to availability. Where Government accommodation is not provided, the Chairperson will be entitled to House Rent of ₹25,000 per month. The Chairperson will report to the Administrative Secretary (FCS&CA), Government of Himachal Pradesh.
